Lumberton Intermediate School Is Hitting the Books!

Local Teacher awarded State Farm grant to help students

Lumberton, 02/02 – Lumberton Intermediate School teacher, Tina Tipton, is looking forward to creating a library of books and resources that are research based but engaging to the students. The RtI (Response to Intervention) Reading Teacher is looking forward to giving students choices.  “I want students to realize all that reading has to offer them, whether it be information or just for pleasure, to escape the stresses of everyday life,” says Tina. “When students have a choice, they are more engaged and will have more fun reading.”

The reading intervention program was selected to receive a State Farm® Teacher Assist grant in February. Each teacher was awarded a $2,500 grant to create or continue an innovative teaching idea. Two hundred submissions were reviewed and the 40 most creative ideas were identified in Texas.

State Farm is proud to recognize and award one of the $2,500 grants to Lumberton to implement and support their innovative classroom project.

“State Farm is proud to support the creative teachers who will be implementing their winning ideas in their classrooms,” said Trey White, State Farm Agent. “I look forward to seeing the impact of her efforts on students in Lumberton.”

Thanks again to all Texas teachers that submitted their ideas. You are making our neighborhoods safer, stronger and better educated!
